he Greater Jakarta Transportation Body (BPTJ) has prepared additional buses in areas that will be affected by the extension of the odd-even license plate policy during the 2018 Asian Games.

The policy, which regulates that cars with license plates ending in odd numbers are only allowed to travel in certain zones on odd-numbered dates and vice versa, will be implemented on all major roads from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day for two weeks.

“The mass transportation procurement is part of supporting policies to help the affected citizens. We have supplied areas affected by the policy with 204 buses,” BPTJ head Bambang Prihartono said on Tuesday as reported by kompas.com.

He said that the additional buses would be stationed on eight arterial roads affected by the odd-even policy.

The body will station 36 buses on Jl. Rasuna Said, 36 on Jl. Metro Pondok Indah, 34 on Jl. MT Haryono, 27 on Jl. Sudirman, 20 on Jl. DI Panjaitan, 20 on Jl. MH Thamrin, 19 on Jl. Benyamin Sueb and 12 on Jl. Ahmad Yani.

Bambang said that the buses would be provided by multiple bus operators in the city, such as Transjakarta, Pengangkutan Penumpang Djakarta (PPD) and Damri.

He said the buses would operate at the start of the odd-even policy trial extension on Monday.

Jakarta Transportation Agency head Andri Yansyah said the Jakarta administration had also provided feeder buses that citizens could use for free. (ami)
