Greater Jakarta: Passengers urged to replace old KMT

C

ommuter train operator PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) has advised customers with old multi-trip cards (KMT) to replace them with newer ones before July 21 as part of the company’s electronic ticketing system update.

Any commuters holding cards where the 16-digit serial number embedded in the card begins with 1001 are eligible for a KMT replacement.

“Commuters can replace their KMT cards at all stations that serve the commuter train, by bringing their KMT with a serial number [starting with] 1001. The station’s officers will check the status of the card, and it will be replaced,” Eva said on Sunday via a written statement.

She said the officers would transfer commuters’ credit from their old KMT cards to the new ones, which would have a warranty of 30 days after the replacement.

She said commuters had to replace the older cards because, as of July 21, any KMT card bearing a serial number starting with 1001 could no longer be used to tap in and out of stations.

“This program [card exchange] already began in 2017. KCI urges all KMT users with a serial number 1001 [card] to make use of this program because of the impending deadline. This program is also free of charge,” Eva said.
