n imposter, who pretended to be a traffic police officer, has been named a suspect for allegedly ticketing motorists passing by Casablanca elevated highway in South Jakarta.

"The suspect has been named a suspect and is being detained," Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono told kompas.com on Monday, referring to a 20-year-old man identified as Joseph Anugerah.

Joseph, who wore a complete police uniform, was arrested on the highway on Sunday after reports emerged that he was alleged to have asked for levies from traffic-violating motorists. A sum of money was confiscated from the scene.

Based on initial investigations, Argo said that economic motives were behind his actions and that the police were investigating whether he had committed similar crimes in other places.

Joseph reportedly purchased the police uniform from Senen Market in Central Jakarta. (fac)
