Rock band Barasuara has auctioned a newly released piece of merchandise to raise funds to assist victims of recent Lombok earthquakes.
After a performance at Liztomania Vol. 4 at the Gedung Kesenian Jakarta performing arts theater in Central Jakarta on Tuesday night, Barasuara vocalist and guitarist Iga Massardi held a spontaneous auction in front of the crowd.
“Allow us to start an auction for our friends in Lombok. This is an official Barasuara shirt that’s just newly released,” Iga said as quoted by kompas.com.
With an opening bid of Rp 500,000 (US$34.19), the shirt eventually sold for Rp 3.5 million.
During the show, Barasuara entertained the audience with a selection of their greatest hits, including “Menunggang Badai” (Riding the Storm) as well as newer songs such as “Seribu Racun” (A Thousand Poisons).
