China wins its first match at the women's polo of theAsian Games.
efending champion China lived up to its title by defeating Kazakhstan 11-4 in the big match of women’s water polo in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta on Thursday.
Both China and Kazakhstan finished in the top three of the last two Asian Games in 2010 and 2014.
In the first quarter, both teams played a tight game on both offense and defense as they reached a total of six fouls each, an even split for both teams, and the scoreboard ended 3-1 for China.
Knowing they were behind, the Kazakhstan team dominated the second quarter with its offensive approach, while China depended on counterattacks. Yet the result showed that China’s strategy was more effective than its rival’s as the quarter ended 4-1, making an overall 7-2 in the first half.
In the second quarter, Kazakhstan played more calmly with short passes to catch up.
However, China took the advantage through a series of fast breaks, ending the third quarter 9-3.
China scored three more goals in the final round, wrapping it up victoriously 11-4. China collected two points from the win.
