video showing two passengers fighting in a packed commuter train traveling from Bekasi, West Java, to Jakarta has made the rounds on social media, prompting train operator PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) to issue a warning about safety.
According to KCI spokesperson Eva Chairunisa, the fight broke out on Tuesday morning during rush hour.
In the footage, a woman identified as Y could be seen stepping onto a crowded car and aggressively pushing other passengers, one of whom retaliated by repeatedly hitting Y with her bag.
"As a result, Y suffered minor injuries to her face and left arm," Eva said as quoted by kompas.com on Tuesday.
Y was then rushed to the Bekasi station's health clinic while the other women was brought to a security post for questioning.
"The two passengers apologized to each other and asked that their names not be published. They continued their commute to Jakarta soon after the problem was resolved," Eva added.
She called on KCI commuters to prioritize the safety of fellow passengers, especially during rush hour, and refrain from pushing one another when getting off and on the train.
"Please respect each other to ensure that everyone feels comfortable while taking the train," she said. (vla)
