China claims six medals on Thursday in artistic gymnastics at the Asian Games.
hina continues its domination in artistic gymnastics, as its athletes bagged six out of 15 medals on offer on Thursday for the apparatus finals at the 2018 Asian Games at Jakarta International Expo in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.
China won gold in the men's rings event thanks to Deng Shudi and in the women's uneven bars with Liu Tingting.
The 17-year-old Liu outclassed fellow Chinese gymnast Lui Huan and silenced her toughest rival of North Korea, Jang Mi-jon, whose score was only 0.4 points short of the former’s achievement at 14.6 points.
China's Deng, the bronze medalist at the 2016 Rio Olympics, found himself in tight competition with Japan’s Shogo Nonomura, whose score in the final was only 0.1 points short of Shudi’s, who booked 14.7 points.
Fellow Chinese athlete Zou Jingyuan, meanwhile, earned a silver in the men's pommel horse, while compatriot Sun Wei took the bronze; Lin Chaopan got the bronze in the men's floor exercise.
Meanwhile, Kim Han-sol of South Korea took the gold medal in the men's floor exercise, while compatriot Yeo Se-jong claimed gold in the women's vault.
Chinese Taipei’s Lee Chih Kai claimed the gold in the men's pommel horse category.
With the addition of six medals on Thursday, China has so far collected 12 of 42 medals at stake in the artistic gymnastics events.
