ormer businessman and current vice presidential candidate Sandiaga Uno believes entrepreneurial spirit should be fostered among Islamic boarding school students.
In a campaign visit to a pesantren (Islamic boarding school) in Sumenep, Madura Island, on Sunday, Sandiaga lauded the boarding school’s management for the professional way in which it ran the school.
He also encouraged the santri [students] to become entrepreneurs, or what he referred to as “santripreneurs”.
“It is time for all ‘santri’ to foster and grow their entrepreneurial spirit to generate new jobs,” he said as quoted by Antara.
Sandiaga has been on the campaign trail in East Java since Thursday alongside presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto. They started in Surabaya and continued to Sidoarjo, Probolinggo, Kediri, Madiun, Bojonegoro and Madura.
The presidential campaign period began on Sept. 23 and will run until April next year. The country will hold concurrent legislative and presidential elections on April 17, 2019. (dpk)
