Promo on Pertamax gasoline at several gas stations in the city on Tuesday led to traffic congestion and disgruntled drivers.
"I’m trying to be patient, but I can’t,” Finna Ulia Ulfah tweeted from her Twitter account @finnaulia on Tuesday, adding that the traffic to Bassura Mall in Jatinegara, East Jakarta, was not moving at all for one hour. “I'm not taking advantage of the promo, but I have to bear the brunt of it. Thanks a lot Mandiri," Finna tweeted.
The one-day promo of Rp 20,000 (US$1.33) for 20 liters of Pertamax gasoline held by state-owned lender Bank Mandiri to commemorate its 20th anniversary, was applied in 11 selected Pertamina gas stations across the city from 2 p.m.
The promo was available only for the first 200 customers with Mandiri cards at each gas station.
A gas station on Jl. Gatot Subroto, Kuningan, Jakarta, had long lines hours before the promo began. "The queue started at noon,” Juli Mulyono, a security staffer at the gas station told tribunnews.com. “We started letting cars come in for the promo at 2 p.m.”
Roads near several gas stations across the city, such as Jl. Cikini Raya in Central Jakarta, Jl. Basuki Rahmat in East Jakarta and Jl. S. Parman in West Jakarta, were also congested because of the promo, according to Jakarta Police Traffic Management Center tweets on Tuesday. (stu)
