Brief: 2 million baht cash bonus awaits Rungroj

J

ust like Indonesia, Thailand has promised a big cash bonus to every athlete who wins a medal at the 2018 Asian Para Games.

The Thai government will hand over 1 million baht (US$30,543) for every gold medal.

Seeded table tennis player Rungroj Thainiyom is one of the Thai athletes who are excited about getting the bonus. He has won two medals in the singles and doubles TT6 (standing) events.

“I am very happy because I won two gold medals. This means that I will get a 2 million baht bonus from the Thai government,” Thainiyom said.

“I struggled to win the medals. The 2018 Asian Para Games were not easy for me even though I won a gold medal at the 2012 Paralympics,” he said.
