olice officers have reportedly discovered firearms in an apartment where an apparent suicide took place in Tanjung Duren, West Jakarta, on Tuesday.
“If the victim was still alive, the case would raise concerns about gun ownership regulations,” said West Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Henky Haryadi on Wednesday as quoted by kompas.com.
Among the guns police reportedly discovered were a 5.6-millimeter caliber MP4/210704 rifle, Hunter CZ-43 and Beretta Tomcat/DAA049979 pistols.
The police have also seized 290 bullets comprising 5.56-caliber bullets, 45-millimeter bullets, 9-mm bullets and 9-mm CLS bullets.
Police reportedly found a 22-caliber Beretta Tomcat besides the dead body on Tuesday.
According to Henky, his office will coordinate with the Jakarta Police and its intelligence unit to check the legal status of the guns and whether the deceased was a member of the Indonesian Shooting and Hunting Association.
“[The dead man had a] military and sporting gun, which are not for self-defense purposes and are not allowed to be kept at home. There are some illegal guns, too,” Henky said, noting that he would hunt down the gun supplier. (vla)
