he administration of Bekasi, West Java, has revised down its proposed grant to the Jakarta administration from Rp 2 trillion (US$131.5 million) to Rp 545 billion for building two flyovers to ease garbage trucks transporting Jakarta's waste to the Bantar Gebang integrated waste processing site (TPST).
“[Bekasi] has revised [our grant proposal] from Rp 2 trillion to around Rp 500 billion. The proposal was submitted in May,” said Jakarta Governance Bureau head Premi Lasari on Wednesday as quoted by tempo.co.
The money, Premi added, will be used to fund the construction of the Cipendawa and Rawapanjang overpasses and the Buaran underpass, as well as a street light revitalization project.
Bekasi had previously asked for a grant of Rp 2.09 trillion from Jakarta to continue the development, including clearing land for their construction, and several other road construction projects.
The proposed fund was cut to almost a quarter, said Premi, following a discussion over a a five-year development plan between Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and Bekasi Mayor Rahmat Effendi.
“Bekasi has to set our priorities,” she said. (vla)
