he Depok Police have ticketed around 1,400 drivers for violating traffic regulations during a three-day traffic operation held annually called Operasi Zebra on Jl. Margonda Raya in Depok, West Java.
“There were a lot of people violating traffic rules. Commonly, motorcyclists use the fast lane [from which they are excluded] or were not carry driver’s licenses,” said Depok Police traffic unit head Comr. Sutomo on Thursday as reported by kompas.com.
He said there were almost 500 drivers ticketed every day.
Despite banners displaying information about the traffic operation in the area, many drivers continued to violate traffic rules.
The police ticketed 450 drivers on the first day of the traffic operation held on Oct. 30 and 510 drivers on the second day.
Sutomo said the morning operation on Jl. Margonda Raya was held from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. and the evening operation from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.
The traffic operation is scheduled to run from Oct. 30 until Nov. 12 across the nation. In Depok, it is being held on several roads, including in the city’s busy roads of Jl. Margonda Raya and Jl. Raya Cinere. (sau)
