aw firm Hanafiah Ponggawa & Partners (HPRP) is partnering with Dentons in Dentons HPRP to expand networks with the objective of helping global investors enter Indonesia.

“Indonesia has become an interesting and promising market for investors, while Indonesian companies have also started to expand their business abroad,” said Dentons HPRP managing partner Constant Ponggawa on the sidelines of a ceremony to introduce a HPRP new brand into Dentons HPRP in Jakarta on Monday.

The ceremony was attended by Law and Human Rights Minister Yasonna H. Laoly, Dentons' global vice chair and ASEAN CEO Philip Jeyaretnam SC, state-owned aluminum producer PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium president director Budi Gunadi Sadikin, former Bank Indonesia governor Agus Martowardoyo and others.

“Dentons HPRP could use Dentons’ networks in 75 countries to facilitate global investors with information about investment climates and potential in Indonesia,” Constant said, adding that Indonesia still needed more institutions to help foreign investors know more about Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Dentons HPRP partner Andre Rahadian said the collaboration between Dentons and HPRP was an effort to expand the law firm’s networks around the globe because Dentons was among the largest law firms in the world.

“The partnership is not only useful for HPRP and Dentons’ clients, but it is also important for all business stakeholders, including the government,” said Andre, who is also secretary-general of the University of Indonesia Alumni Association.

Andre said the partnership did not affect the independence of Dentons and HPRP. “Each of us respects our respective integrity and independence based on the existing laws,” he added. (bbn)
