tudents were dismissed early from school upon hearing news of the murder of the Nainggolan family in Bekasi, West Java, on Tuesday.

Sarah Boru Nainggolan, 9, and Arya Nainggolan, 7, who were students of the city's Imanuel Viktori Christian elementary school, were murdered in a homicide along with their parents, Diperum Nainggolan, 38, and Maya Ambarita, 37. Their bodies were found in their house, which is not far from the school, on Tuesday.

The teachers of the school received the news of the murder from the victim’s relatives, whose children were enrolled at the same school, school principal Romme Winoka said on Wednesday.

"The teachers were very shocked that, at 10 a.m., [we] decided to dismiss the [children from] school," Romme said as quoted by tempo.co.

According to Romme, members of the teaching staff cried hysterically upon receiving the news. As the situation became unbearable for some, the entire school was closed for the day.

Sarah and Arya were found dead in their bedroom, allegedly because of asphyxiation. Their parents, Diperum and Maya, were found dead in the living room with stab wounds.

Bekasi Police chief Sr. Comr. Indarto said the police alleged that the murder was not a part of a robbery and involved more than one perpetrator.

“All of the [potential] motives are still being looked into,” he said. (gis)
