inance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said on Thursday that state budget spending had reached Rp 1.72 quadrillion (US$117.90 billion) in the first 10 months of 2018, double the spending in the corresponding period, last year.

 The amount is 77.5 percent of the total spending targeted in the 2018 state budget.

She explained that the central government had spent Rp 1.07 quadrillion. 

Ari Mulyani said Rp 511.46 trillion was spent by ministries and non-ministerial institutions.

“The spending acceleration was particularly attributed to the increased subsidy spending,” said Sri Mulyani as quoted by kontan.co.id.

Meanwhile, the spending for regional transfers and village fund program reached Rp 646.4 trillion.

The minister said the realization of regional transfers and village funds had grown 1.2 percent, compared to the spending in the first 10 months of 2017.

The ministry’s financial balance director general, Astera Primanto, Bhakti expressed his optimism that the full-year spending target would be reached by the end of 2018.

“We, along with the Treasury Directorate General and regional administrations are coordinating on village fund spending. The regional administrations have assisted the villages on [how to spend] the funds,” he added. (bbn)
