he ASEAN-Korean Center (AKC) will organize an ASEAN Train trip in 2019 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of South Korea’s relationship with ASEAN as well as the AKC’s 10th anniversary.
The AKC’s secretary-general, Lee Hyuk, told visiting ASEAN journalists that during the celebration it would invite dozens of people from ASEAN member states to the country so that South Koreans could have an understanding of how the relationship between ASEAN and their country have developed over the past 30 years.
“ASEAN will showcase traditional and modern performances that could be the highlight of next year’s event,” he said on Monday.
Jang Yeunju, the AKC’s information and data unit head, said South Korean embassies in ASEAN member states would select 30 people from each country.
“We haven’t decided on the criteria yet but we are trying to include as many people as possible including people with disabilities,” she said.
Jang said the 300 ASEAN citizens would meet up with 100 South Koreans during the train trip with stops in major cities such as Busan, Pyeongchang and Yeosu, where they will have performances, exhibitions, and concerts during the trip planned for September 2019.
