Folk musician Iwan Fals is excited for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
Iwan, who also has a 4th degree black belt in karate and is an instrutor in the martial art, hopes his disciples will be able to compete at the world’s biggest sporting competition.
“I am very excited at the moment because in 2020, karate will be included in the Olympics. Who knows, one of my disciples could join in,” Iwan said as quoted by kompas.com.
Iwan added that while he was still actively coaching and practicing karate, he had to be careful these days because he had recently suffered shoulder injuries.
“Unfortunately, I was injured a while back and I just had surgery on it. The doctors told me to be careful,” said Iwan.
Iwan said he had also injured his shoulder a long time ago but that recently he felt the pain getting worse.
“There’s a tear in my tendon, and it has been there for a year now. The initial tear was in 1982 when I played badminton without warming up, I tore my tendon and I just ignored it,” said Iwan.
