Gerindra Party chairman Prabowo Subianto has called on his supporters to put their trust in the law as he plans to contest the election results.

The former general lost the presidential election to incumbent President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, however has refused to concede, claiming election fraud.

Prabowo’s supporters have been protesting the results since Tuesday, the acts of which turned violent. Six people reportedly died in a clash during the protests, while hundreds were left injured.

“Just trust your leaders, we’ll still fight through the constitutional legal process. I want you all to be patient and stay calm,” Prabowo said in video footage distributed early on Thursday.

In the video, Prabowo also asked protesters to stop rallying and go home.

“Go home, rest. We should continue our fast today,” Prabowo said.

The protesters were reportedly still going about their activities at dawn on Thursday. They demanded that the election results be annulled.

Prabowo also visited his campaign team office, Rumah Aspirasi Menteng, in Central Jakarta, where several people injured in the protest could be found.
