JAKARTA: Indonesia will take part in the German Olympics in Dresden in July, the first to invite Asian countries.

A short list of 25 senior high school students from across the country will be vying for three places on the national team during a selection Monday at the Goethe-Institut. An accompanying teacher will be also picked from 21 German language teachers.

The German government will award the selected three students scholarships to attend a three-week German language course in the summer of 2009, selection team member Elia Sandra said Friday.

This year's Olympics will take place from July 23 to Aug. 4, featuring 90 students and 30 teachers from across the world. -- JP
