JAKARTA: State Secretary Hatta Radjasa said Thursday the government would soon endorse the newly passed election law.

"The president will shortly sign the election law. I think it will be completed by tomorrow," he told reporters at the State Palace.

After being signed by the president, he said, the law will be brought to the Justice and Human Rights Ministry to get a law number.

The House of Representatives passed the election bill earlier this month.

The bill was the second of four political draft laws required for the next year's election.

The House passed the law on political parties last December, and will continue to deliberate the two remaining bills, relating to the presidential election and the composition of legislative bodies. -- JP
