JAKARTA: The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) warned Wednesday that a former director general of public law and administration at the Justice and Human Rights Ministry, Zulkarnain Yunus, could still be sent back to jail.
"Zulkarnain shouldn't celebrate yet. The appeal is already being processed at our office," KPK director of prosecution Ferry Wiboson said.
On March 4, an appellate court reduced Zulkarnain's jail term from two years to one. He walked away from prison on March 14 after serving one year.
"We'll appeal that verdict. If our appeal is successful, he could go back to jail," Ferry said.
Zulkarnain was declared guilty of embezzling Rp 6.4 billion (US$703,296) by the Corruption Court when he was working on an automatic fingerprint identification system for the ministry of justice. -- JP
