Ex-police chief launches biography

JAKARTA: Former National Police chief Gen. (ret) Awaloedin Djamin launched his biography at the Police Staff College (PTIK) campus Monday.

Among attendants of the book launch were State Minister for Administrative Reform Taufik Effendi, who is a former police officer, Indonesian envoy to Malaysia Da'i Bachtiar, who is also a former National Police chief, senior journalist Rosihan Anwar and marketing expert Hermawan Kertajaya.

Written by senior journalist Julius Pour, the biography, titled Bhayangkara Paripurna: Menertibkan Republik, Mengamankan Proklamasi (Retired police: Marshal the republic, protect the proclamation), describes Awaloedin's efforts to maintain public trust in the police force.

Awaloedin has served as a manpower minister, administrative reform minister, ambassador to Germany and rector of the PTIK, where he is a professor. -- JP
