KUPANG: Five of the eight pairs of governor and vice governor nominees registering with the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) provincial General Elections Commission (KPUD) may be delisted as they have yet to meet the administrative and legal requirements.

KPUD member Jhon Depa said the five pairs of candidates had yet to collect the required minimum of 15 percent of political support from the provincial legislative council or accumulated political support based on the 2004 legislative election, as stipulated by the 2004 regional administration law.

Among the five pairs are Jonathan Nubatonis and his running mate Valen Sili Tupen, and Gasphar Parang Ehok and his running mate Yulius Bobo.

The candidates who have met the requirements are Ibrahim Agustinus Medah and his running mate Paulus Moa, Frans Leburaya and his running mate Esthon Foennayi, and Benny Harman and his running mate Alfret Kase.

The KPUD has set Monday as the deadline for the five candidates to meet all the requirements or be delisted. --JP
