INDONESIA: A light airplane used for training reportedly made an emergency landing Saturday morning in the grounds of Purna Bakti Pertiwi Museum in Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, East Jakarta.

No injuries were reported.

The pilot, 31-year-old Arif Hidayat, survived the incident, which took place at 11:45 a.m., Kompas.com reported.

Arif was taken to Air Force Hospital Antariksa Halim, East Jakarta, according to the chief of the Air Force's information services, First Marshal Khairudin.

"He was in shock ... But suffered no injuries," Khairudin said.

He said Arif had departed from Halim Perdanakusumah Airport, East Jakarta, at 11:41 a.m. His destination was Pondok Cabe air base in Ciputat, Tangerang.

However, the engine of the CESSNA-207 reportedly lost power.

The plane was owned by flying school Alpha Flying Club, Khairuddin said.

"Arif and officials at Halim airport lost contact for several minutes. He reported back through radio at 11:48 that his plane had made an emergency landing in Taman Mini," he said.

The head of Halim airport, Col. Handoko, said his team would investigate the incident.

A similar incident took place in Tangerang regency, south of Jakarta, last month when a light aircraft crashed into Villa Pamulang housing complex, damaging at least four houses.

The incident also killed Herudi Kartowisastro, 71, who was flying at 1,500 feet before the plane's engine reportedly lost power. --JP
