SEMARANG: The police are still investigating Yassir Andil Bar, alias Fais, 30, a terrorist suspect recently arrested in Purworejo, Central Java, but they refused to reveal where he was being detained.
Central Java provincial police Insp. Gen. FX Soenarno said over the weekend an intensive investigation was still underway in an attempt to foil the suspect's network and to take preventive actions.
He said the suspect, a former student of an Islamic boarding school in Boyolali, might know something about the terrorist network in the country and Indonesia's most wanted terrorist suspect, Noordin M. Top.
He declined to reveal whether Fais was involved in the Bali bombings and past terrorist actions in Palu, Central Sulawesi.
"We are still carrying out the investigation. We want people to lend a helping hand in anticipation of terrorist threats in the province," Soenarno said.
He said despite Fais's arrest, the province was not a safe haven for terrorists. --JP
