Correction: In our photo caption published Friday on this page, Air Chief Marshall Jock Stirrup should have been referred to as United Kingdom's Chief of Defense Staff instead of British Army Commander. We apologize for the mistake.

Look, what's the point of printing a correction if the correction itself has a mistake in it? There is no such word or rank as marshaLL (with 2 letters L)

Why is The Jakarta Post incapable of spelling the English word MARSHAL correctly?

You almost always spell it with two letters L - like this - MARSHALL. You have done it again in today's issue in the article headed "Britain to help Indonesia deal with defense chalellenges" (n.b. you have also misspelt challenges)

United Kingdom military chief MarshaLL Sir Jock Stirrup .........

It's wrong! You don't believe me? OK, look at page 363 of your ECHOLS and SHADILY dictionary KAMUS INDONESIA INGGRIS. Look for the Indonesian word MARSEKAL; what do you see - marshaL or marshaLL?
