TANGERANG: Head of Tangerang Education Agency, Ahmad Suwandi, said Friday that the regency administration would soon rebuild Setia Bhakti Elementary School, which was heavily damaged by a recent storm.

"Currently we are still calculating the cost of reconstructing the school," he said as quoted by Tempointeraktif.com.

Ahmad estimated that the total budget to rebuild Setia Bhakti Elementary School would be around Rp 1.5 billion (US$164,000) and the reconstruction of each class would probably cost Rp 70 million.

On Wednesday night, heavy rain damaged the school building with four out of its eight classes losing their roof and ceiling. Many chairs and tables in the four classes were also damaged.

The administration will rebuild the whole school because it is no longer appropriate, Ahmad said.

The school, which is located at West Mauk village, Mauk subdistrict, was built in 1973. -- JP
