Vina to stage solo concert

JAKARTA: Pop diva Vina Panduwinata, known for her 1980s hits, Burung Camar (Seagulls) and September Ceria (Joyful September), will stage a solo concert on May 17 at the Jakarta Convention Center.

"This is her second solo concert after 'Viva Vina' in 2006," Aina, the concert's spokeswoman, said Tuesday.

In the concert, which is simply titled "Konser Vina" (Vina's Concert), the 48-year-old singer will perform 22 songs from her 130 hits, including Di Dadaku Ada Kamu (You Reside in My Heart).

She will collaborate with composer Addie M.S, newcomer Afgan, and The Rumpies, her former group from 1989 that released an album entitled Nurlela.

Her debut album, Citra Biru (Blue Image), was released in 1980, followed by Citra Pesona (The Image of Charm, 1982) and Citra Ceria (The Image of Joy, 1984). She released Best of Vina in 2006 after recording 14 albums. -- JP/Ary Hermawan
