PADANG: A young boy died after falling from the second floor at City Hall in Padang, West Sumatra, on Thursday.
Salsabila Zufri, 2, fell 5 meters while his mother Neng and his aunt were reporting to the civil registration office on their move to the city from Batusangkar, Tanah Datar regency.
An eyewitness at the crowded office said she had warned Neng before the incident to supervise her active son more closely. However, Neng went back downstairs alone leaving her son on the second floor, unaware the boy was not with his aunt.
"Salsabila fell when he was trying to look down to see his mother on the first floor," said an officer at the office.
He died on his way to hospital.
Padang municipal administration spokesman Hasrul Piliang said mayor Fauzi Bahar had asked to be kept informed about the incident and had donated Rp 5 million to express his condolences with Salsabila's family.
