Singapore's Lam Chih Bing fired his second successive seven-under-par 65 to maintain his lead in the Mercedes-Benz Masters Indonesia at Emeralda golf course in Cimanggis, Depok, West Java on Thursday.
Lam posted three birdies on the front nine and four on the back for a four-stroke lead over Danny Chia of Malaysia.
Chia holed in 66 in the second round.
The tournament is the opening event of the season on the Mercedes-Benz Tour, which boasts 10 events this year.
Chia won the first event last year, The International Championship also played in Indonesia, but Lam is in the drivers seat this time.
"The course really sets up well for me as there is not much rough and I can really attack the holes with my driver," Lam was quoted as saying in a statement sent to The Jakarta Post
The 31-year-old narrowly missed a birdie on 18, where he lipped out from 20 feet.
"I am comfortable being in the lead. I'd rather be in this position than anywhere else," added Lam.
Chia will be paired with Lam in the third round and has one thing on his mind.
"I just better make sure Lam doesn't get too far ahead. The way he is playing he'll be hard to catch," said Chia.
The leading Indonesians are Maan Nasim, Ilyasak and Sanusi who are all 12 behind the leader.--JP
