Sporting events to celebrate birthday

JAKARTA: The Jakarta administration is ready to rock the capital with a number of sporting events on June 25 to commemorate Jakarta's anniversary on June 22.

Jakarta Sports and Youth Agency head Taufik Yudi Mulyanto said Friday the agency was preparing for the sporting events, organized in partnership with the private sector.

"There will be aerobic gymnastics, line dancing, futsal, volleyball, basketball, a march, a running competition and cycling, just for fun," he said at City Hall.

"There will also be a blood donor program held by the Indonesian Red Cross," he said.

The events, will be held at the eastern part of National Monument Park and will attract more than 15,000 participants, he said. --JP
