Sheila on 7 to release new album

JAKARTA: Pop-rock band Sheila on 7, known for their hits "Dan" (And) and "Kita" (We) in the late 1990s, will soon release its sixth album entitled Menentukan Arah (Determining Direction).

"The title is taken from one of the songs in the album, 'Arah' (Direction)," guitarist Erros Chandra, the band's most prolific songwriter who formed another band, Jagostu, during Sheila on 7's hiatus, was quoted as saying by Detik.com.

Eross, who wrote 10 of the 11 songs on the upcoming album, said he did not worry about competition with other pop-rock bands that offered a new taste in the country's popular music scene.

"It never crossed my mind. As a musician, what I do is make music. I believe a good song will always receive good appreciation," he said.

Sheila on 7 are Eross, Duta (vocals), Adam (bassist) and Brian (Drum). Their last album, 507, was released in 2006. -- JP
