JAKARTA: Singaporean golfer Lam Chih Bing continued his dominance at the Mercedes-Benz Masters Indonesia on Friday, with a third-round four-under-par 68 giving him a five-stroke lead over Filipino Angelo Que.

Lam, who fired 65s on the first two days, is now 18 under par for the US$50,000 tournament and is well on course for his first victory on the circuit.

Que shot a 65 on Friday at the Emeralda Golf and Country Club, in Cimanggis, Depok, West Java, putting him in second place, four strokes ahead of Malaysia's Danny Chia.

"I didn't play quite as well today but made some nice putts. I can't complain, although naturally I would like to be even more in front," Lam said, as quoted in a statement from the organizers.

The Singaporean shot five birdies and dropped one shot in what is the opening event of the season on the Mercedes-Benz Tour.

Lam played in several events in the inaugural Tour last year, but this week is set to produce far and away his best finish.

Indonesian veterans Maan Nasim and Ilyasak are the leading local players, after both fired rounds of 73 on Friday to put them at one under for the tournament. --JP
