PADANG: West Sumatra governor Gamawan Fauzi has sent a letter to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to inform them of a wedding party for his eldest daughter.
Spokesman for the provincial administration Devi Kurnia said the letter was delivered on May 28 to show the governor's strong commitment to good governance. His family would not receive any wedding presents that could be classified as gifts from guests having business dealings with the government.
"We haven't yet received a reply on whether the KPK will send a team to check on the wedding presents accepted," he said, adding the wedding party would be held at the governor's office on Saturday.
The commission sent a team on a similar mission to Yogyakarta when Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, also a governor, recently held a wedding party for his daughter's marriage.
Vice President Jusuf Kalla and former governor Azwar Anaz were here Thursday to act as witnesses for the couple's marriage ceremony. --JP
