JAKARTA: A young couple was found dead in a minivan with its engine still running at Ancol's Karnaval beach, North Jakarta.
Both were lying in the middle section of the vehicle, fully clothed, when a janitor found them on Monday morning.
Police identified the man as Hery Arief Sutisna, 22, and the woman was twenty-one-year-old Mega Purnama. Both are university students.
North Jakarta Police chief Sr.Comr. Muhammad Rum said carbon poisoning from the car's air-conditioning system had caused their deaths.
"A forensic test has confirmed the cause of death. There were no signs of drug use or physical abuse to their bodies.
This was purely an accident," he told The Jakarta Post.
Police found two tickets to the beach dated June 15, and seized four mobile phones and the car as evidence. --JP
