The meeting was  about the national peace process and requirements for regional development.

The eight villagers, namely Ye Sein, Po Te, Kyaw Phone, Win Zaw, Htet Htet Aung, Aung Tint, Khine Swe and Tun Win were invited to the talks.

During the meeting the residents discussed regional requirements such as education, business, electricity, trade, water supply, and land disputes.

“I came here to talk about peace and electricity. I chose this village, which recently was given access to electricity, because I want to know how your lives are affected by the access. I want to know how your lives changed with and without access to electricity. It’s very important to have access to electricity in the whole country. The same is the peace. People in Mandalay may know little about the peace process as you live in peace already, b it’s important for everyone and everyone should work together for the peace,” Suu Kyi said.

Suu Kyi also said the government is working hard for peace.

“I was very glad to meet Daw Aung San Suu Kyi today. I talked about education sector in the country. We have many people uneducated in our country as they’re very poor. Another topic was about narcotics, which are widely spread in schools. I want our country to be peaceful. I wish the national peace process successful,” said  Htet Htet Aung.

Myaytaingkan is a village about 7 miles away from Wantwin and located besides Yangon-Mandalay Road. And the village has a population of about 1,200.
