span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language:EN-US">Indonesian gymnast Rifda Irfanuluthfi on Tuesday won a silver and a bronze medal in the women’s artistic gymnastic competitions on the third day of the 2017 SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur.

Rifda, who hails from Jakarta, snitched silver on the vault apparatus. She scored 13.228 points, slightly below the host country’s Tan Ing Yeuh, who finished with 13.400 points to win the gold medal.

“The Malaysian athlete made a higher jump than I did. I think her jump was what helped her win the gold,” Rifda said of her performance.

Rifda outperformed another Malaysian gymnast, Tracie Ang, who finished third with a score of 12.725.

On the uneven bars, however, Rifda’s score of 12.075 was lower than Tracie’s, who landed in second position with 12.550 points. The Philippines’ Kaitlin Cera Lianne De La Cruz won the gold medal.

Meanwhile, in the men’s artistic category, Dwi Samsul Arifin also contributed a bronze medal for Indonesia.

“Tomorrow, we will have three more competitions – two in the women’s artistic category and three in the men’s. We hope we can get one gold,” Indonesian gymnastics team leader Dian Widjaja Kesumawati told the press, adding that Rifda was among the Indonesian gymnasts expected to bring home gold.

On Wednesday, Rifda is set to perform on the floor exercise apparatus. She said she had just learned a new move during one month of training in Romania and three weeks of training in Qatar.

“If I can perform the new move in a tidy way, I am very optimistic I can bring home a gold medal,” she said.
