F

oreign tourist arrivals in Indonesia throughout June were dominated by Singaporeans, Chinese, Australians and Malaysians, according to a recent report by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).

Up to 132,031 Singaporean nationals visited the archipelago during the period, followed by Chinese citizens at 115,840, Australians at 113,672, and Malaysians at 105,136, kompas.com reported. Meanwhile in the fifth spot is Japanese visitors but much lower in number with only 34,629.

Overall, the BPS recorded an increase of up to 5.88 percent in foreign tourist arrivals this year with 5,291,538 by the month of June compared to same period last year, with Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, China, South Korea, Japan and India among the highest contributors.

Most of the foreign tourists entered through the country's 19 main entry gates: Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Greater Jakarta, Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, Husein Sastranegara International Airport in West Java, Kualanamu International Airport in North Sumatra, Juanda International Airport in East Java, Sam Ratulangi International Airport in North Sulawesi, Entikong in West Kalimantan, Adi Sumarmo International Airport in Central Java, Minangkabau International Airport in West Sumatra, Lombok International Airport in West Nusa Tenggara, Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in South Sulawesi, Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman International Airport in East Kalimantan, Sultan Syarif Kasim II International Airport in Riau, Adisucipto International Airport in Yogyakarta, Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta, and Riau Islands' Batam, Tanjung Pinang, Tanjung Uban and Tanjung Balai Karimun.
