The redevelopment of Hang Nadim International Airport in Batam, Riau Islands, is set to begin in June.

The Batam Indonesia Free Zone Authority (BP Batam) and the Investment Coordinating Board hosted a market sounding event in Tokyo on April 27 to invite potential investors to participate in the project.

The event included a presentation from BP Batam's deputy chairman for business facilities and infrastructure, Eko Santoso Budianto, on the government-to-business cooperation investment scheme.

Around 100 companies participated in the event, among them Deloitte, Fibetech, Nippon Koei and Mitsui.

Japanese company Mitsui reportedly showed an interest in participating in the airport redevelopment and Batu Ampar Port projects.

Other companies from South Korea, India and France are also said to be interested in the Hang Nadim International Airport redevelopment project. (jes/kes)
