Meanwhile, cash inflows from January to June have reached Rp 124 trillion (US$9.276 billion), close to the same period last year, which recorded Rp 126 trillion in inflows.

Jokowi also talks about data from the Central Statistics Agency on the number of foreign tourists between January and May this year. The period saw a 20 percent increase to 5,358,489 visitors from the same period last year.

According to Tourism Minister Arief Yahya, such success is the result of a team effort involving other ministries.

He gave the example of accessibility issues in the tourist industry. To expand accessibility, the ministry received support from the Transportation Ministry, the State-Owned Enterprises Ministry and state-owned airport operators PT Angkasa Pura (AP) I and II.

Other ministries, such as the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry and the Law and Human Rights Ministry, also helped by improving access to tourist destinations and easing visa regulations, he claimed. (kes)
