Batam in Riau Islands hosted a ladies-only golf event dubbed Palm Springs Ladies Golf on July 15-16.
“Golf events for males are nothing special; this Ladies Golf event invited socialites and expats from Singapore,” said Palm Springs Golf general manager Steven Japari.
In total, up to 150 golfers who signed up for the event were from different nationalities, such as Singaporean, Malaysian, Belgian and French.
After the event, participants alongside their family members and friends were treated to a dinner with live music and DJ performance at the Batam View Beach Resort.

“It’s really fun, I can play golf in a relaxing way in Batam. The service and price are a lot better than in Singapore,” commented Singaporean golfer Adeline Teo Ah.
Due to the success of the event, Singapore Professional Golfer's Association (SPGA) director Jason Tan is thinking of setting up a golf camp in Batam with students coming from Korea, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.
“I’ve been watching golf tourism in Batam for 18 years; it’s a really great place for a golf camp. It's stress-free and golfers are happy,” Tan said. (kes)
