A trail running event is set to take place in Bumi Blambangan in Banyuwangi, East Java, on July 23.

Participants of the Banyuwangi Ijen Green Run 2017 will run through coffee, clove and pine plantations, forest, river, rice fields and villages, as well as exploring the famous Ijen volcano complex.

“I'm familiar with Banyuwangi and Ijen; I’ve gone up to the Blue Fire numerous times, hence I’m recommending everyone to take part in Banyuwangi Ijen Green Run 2017,” said Tourism Minister Arief Yahya who himself is from Banyuwangi.

Arief also encouraged the public to promote the event online using hashtag #PesonaIjenGreenRun

Prior to Mt. Ijen, similar events had been held in other mountains, such as Tambora, Rinjani, Bromo and Semeru. (kes)
