Central Sulawesi is set to host international cycling competition called Tour de Central Celebes (TDCC) 2017 on Nov. 6-8.
The 491.4-kilometer race reportedly would be joined by 150 participants from 12 countries.
The trail will be divided into three stages. The first stage requires cyclists to travel from Tojo Una Una regency to Poso regency with a total distance of 192 kilometers. The second stage will cover Poso and Parigi Moutong regencies with a total distance of 143.6 meters. The last stage will have participants travel from Parigi Moutong regency to Sigi regency in Palu with a total distance of 143.3 kilometers.

Under the supervision of Union Cycliste Internationale, the competition will be joined by five national teams and 10 international teams from 12 countries, namely Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, Netherlands, Kuwait, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, Brunei, France.
“Through this event, we’re inviting cyclists and the public to witness Central Sulawesi’s main tourist destinations. The places in Central Sulawesi has a lot of potentials, such as Pusentasi, Palu Bridge, Mount Gawalise, Morowali Nature Reserves, Lore Lindu National Park, Reconciliation Monument, Lake Poso, Togean Islands and other places,” said Tourism Ministry's Archipelago Marketing Development deputy Esthy Reko Astuti.

Central Sulawesi Governor Longki Djanggola said the province welcomed 57,461 foreign and 3,019,448 domestic tourists in 2016. This year they are targeting to increase the number to 75,000 and 3,757,841, respectively.
Apart from the race, TDCC 2017 will also feature other supporting events, such as art and culture festival and exhibition booths.
“The event also encourages the locals to perform traditional music, dance and culture that will be seen by international cyclists,” Longki added. (kes)
