International flower festival returns to Tomohon

he annual Tomohon International Flower Festival (TIFF) 2017 currently runs at the "Flower City" of Tomohon in North Sulawesi until Aug. 12.
The event features plenty of exciting activities, such as a street parade at the main streets of Tomohon on Aug. 8, a beauty pageant contest, the Tournament of Flowers and a flower exhibition.
“The parade will showcase flower-themed outfits created by local and national designers,” said Tourism Ministry's Archipelago Marketing Development deputy Esthy Reko Astuti.

The festival also hosts Tourism, Trade, Investment and Floriculture Expo that highlights floriculture, flower garden landscape, tourism, trade and investment exhibition.
Singer Novita Dewi is scheduled to perform at the event. “The X Factor Indonesia alumna will perform several songs on Aug. 8 at the main stage at 6 p.m. Several local musicians will also take part at the festival,” said Tomohon Mayor Jimmy Feidie Eman.
Tomohon seeks to welcome more tourists through the event. In 2016, up to 26,261 foreign and 244,563 domestic tourists reportedly entered the region. (kes)
