Apart from handling luggage, these airport helpers can also be of assistance for other airport-related needs.
Starting Sept. 1, the porter service at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport's Terminal 1 and 2 are available for free.
“The porter service at Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 has been changed to airport helper service beginning September 1. All passengers who use the service don’t need to pay for anything,” said state-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II president director Muhammad Awaluddin.
Apart from handling luggage, these airport helpers can also be of assistance for other airport-related needs.
“They will help you with anything as long as it is still under their job responsibilities,” added Awaluddin.

The airport’s Terminal 3 is the first terminal that implemented the free airport helper policy.
Currently there are three companies that supply the porters for Soekarno-Hatta International Airport with total employees of about 800 people.
With the new policy, PT Angkasa Pura Solusi, a subsidiary of PT Angkasa Pura II, will be in charge of managing the income of these porters.
Other than that, PT Angkasa Pura II also promises incentives for airplanes that decide to Remain Overnight (RON) at the other 12 airports outside Cengkareng that are under Angkasa Pura II management. (kes)
