Up to 2.7 million tourists reportedly visited halal destinations in Indonesia in 2016.
he week-long Pesantren Charm Week 2017 held by Islamic boarding school Pesantren Sirnarasa in Ciamis regency, West Java, has been officially closed on Sept. 2.
“This event can be the model or standard in the development of halal tourism in Indonesia,” said Tourism Ministry's deputy for Institutional Development, Ahman Sya.

The closing night of the event, attended by founders and seniors of Pesantren Sirnarasa Abah, santri and visitors who came from different regions, featured performances by Gebyung Al-Muropaqoh art group from Unu Nun Village and Hadroh team from Bandung Islamic State University.
Up to 2.7 million tourists reportedly visited halal destinations in Indonesia in 2016. The ministry is targeting to increase the number to 3.7 million visitors by the end of this year. (kes)
