ukit Penanjakan (Penanjakan Hill) in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park in East Java is set to be closed to tourists for three months starting Sept. 11.

"Because renovations are being made to the facilities at Bukit Penanjakan the area will be closed for tourists from Sept. 11 to Dec. 10," stated the park management in a circulated letter as reported by kompas.com

The place's tribune, stairs and pendopo (pavilion) are set to be removed to create more space for visitors.

Sarif Hidayat, head of the reporting evaluation data and public relations subdivision at the park, said the management would also create new entry and exit paths for visitors, as well as repair the fences.

"We have distributed [this announcement] via our official social media accounts and website, as well as put it on entrance gates such as at Coban Trisula Malang, Cemoro Lawang Probolinggo, Penanjakan Pasuruan and Ranu Pani Lumajang," he said, adding that tourists seeking to enjoy the destination's famous sunrise were advised to visit other view points available across the park.
