Indonesia sees increase in number of Oman tourists

he Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Muscat, Oman, recently held an the 72nd anniversary of Indonesia's Independence Day on Oct. 2 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Muscat.
The event, which was attended by Oman’s Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Fouad bin Jaafar bin Mohammed Al Sagwani, featured two traditional dance performances, namely Balinese Gebyar Dance and Galenye Dance from Minangkabau.
During his speech, Indonesian Ambassador to Oman, Musthofa Taufik Abdul Latif, mentioned about the rise of tourists from Oman coming to Indonesia.
“In one year from 2016 the increase has reached 40 percent,” said Musthofa. "In 2015 the number was 7,000 people, in 2016 it reached 12,000 people and this year so far there were already 9,000 people it continues to increase."

Several factors play role in this increase. The first one is the regulation that requires all Indonesian migrant workers in Oman to give tourism brochures that are published by the ministry to their co-workers and employers.
Second, Indonesian diaspora members in Oman have been helping promoting the beauty of Indonesia. Next is KBRI’s role in providing information about Indonesian tourism for the people of Oman who come to KBRI.
“The last two are the digital strategy by the Tourism Ministry and the culture among the people of Oman who like to share stories to each other,” said Musthofa.
“I’ve been to Jakarta and Bali; your country is really beautiful and friendly. It’s very green and fresh; the trip was indeed an unforgettable one,” said Fouad. (kes)
