T

he upcoming Riau Expo 2017 that will be held at the Ska Co Ex on Oct. 14-20 will shine the spotlight on the tourism industry and small, medium and big industrial enterprises.

Themed "culture, Malay culture and Riau’s integrity", the expo will be officiated by Riau Governor Arsyadjuliandi Rachman on Oct. 14 and run from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m.

Plenty of fun activities will be featured at the event such as art and culture performances from all regencies and cities in Riau, a performance by a national celebrity on the closing night, Riau Investment Forum, Gemerlap Kampung Melayu, the election of Promotional Ambassador, fashion show and culinary tour.

Capital Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP) are set to collaborate with the region's Tourism Agency in this exhibition to promote tourism in Riau.

“Promotion and marketing are the responsibility of Tourism Agency. We are more on the development side, such as when an investor is interested in developing a tourism business such as cottage and homestay,” said DPMPTSP department head Evarefita.

Evarefita added that tourist destinations such as Bono in Pelalawan, Rupat Beach and Beting Aceh Bengkalis will be showcased at the expo.

Riau Expo 2017 offers 281 booths, of which 260 have been rented out and the registration is still open until Oct. 12.

“Ninety percent [of the booths] has been filled. Among the participants are regional government working organization (OPD) in Riau, industrial enterprises, UMKM and BUMD,” said the event’s organizer head Dewi Rosariyanti Syam. (kes)
